Established in 2010, Piccione Vineyards borders Raffaldini Vineyards, and has a similar Italian style to the buildings and experience. The Piccione property sits on a high ridge, from which
Dobbins Creek feels way out in the country, but it is really not far off I-77. As you approach the log-built tasting building, it feels like you have reached the old farm homestead. . .
JOLO is located in Pilot Mountain, near Mount Airy, north of Winston-Salem. It was established in 2010, on a beautiful piece of property, which views Pilot Mountain. Upon nearing the building, you notice a typical paved parking lot, only to learn that it is for wine club members only. . .
On the property, just behind the tasting room, Big Elkin Creek and Grassy Creek meet, and there sits the century old Elkin Creek Mill. The winery is a pleasant and scenic spot, like a park with swinging benches, and lots of water and woods. While there is a part of the vineyard at the front of the tasting building, the focus of the scenery is not the grape vines, as it is at many other vineyards, but the natural setting.
Located just 30 minutes north of Greensboro, NC, and about the same distance from Winston-Salem, this is a great family owned winery with lots of character. The vineyard features lots of great social activities, food trucks, and special events with bands.
Grandfather Winery is located near Banner Elk, North Carolina, not far from Boone, NC, on NC Highway 105. It is on your left as you are heading from Boone. The signage is okay, but not great, so you have to be on the lookout for it.
A fun, farm/country feeling experience. The tasting buildings are surrounded on three sides by extensive vineyards, some of which extend as far as the eye can see. Overall, a fun, country experience with very good to excellent wines that we rate a solid four stars.
